Comic Diversion

In the week when Jeremy Hardy unexpectedly passed away, it reminded me of how important intelligent comedy is to life and to society.  We need people who can poke fun at the state of our world and who know how to do it with finesse. Jeremy Hardy will go down as one the legends of political satire alongside some of my other comedy heroes – George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce.

By chance I came across a showman called Randy Rainbow, popular in America but not so well known here. I have laughed out loud. Enjoy. My favourite is ‘There is nothing like a wall’.

The DRM Dozen and the Dartmoor DRM

This Sunday is the inaugural meeting of the 12 Dialogue Road Map Trainees. We’re starting with 3 days of DRM basics and then I’m off to Dartmoor Prison with David. Louisa and Paul will be joining us as we take the first steps to progressing the DRM onto a second wing. I’m looking forward to a time when both teams can meet.

Maria’s Midweek Mindfulness

Comedy has always been a big part of my life. I remember, when I was I child, us, as a family watching Dave Allen on TV. I didn’t really understand him but I knew he was casting a spell of humour into our living room in what was generally a pretty miserable existence. I love to laugh at life and I love surrendering to the magic of a skilful comic. Sometime ago I did a Laughter Yoga Practitioner Training and it was amazing to discover how to laugh without an external stimulus. Nowadays, I get a laugh every morning when I stand on the scales and look in the mirror.
