..to care for all living things?

Native, Indigenous or Tribal people believe that humans are stewards of the planet and that our role is to care for every living thing. It’s hard to argue with this though, of course, it is possible that humans were meant to destroy everything around them in some other reality, crazy game, in which we are the pawns of entertainment to an alien world.

The problem with the second scenario is the amount of injury, loss and harm that we visit on ourselves. So, in the place where I have choice, I far prefer a world in which my role is to care for all living things.

As a starting point, it is really easy to see how the mainstream strategies for commerce and business have little or no regard for every living thing because exclusion, exploitation and excess are built into these systems.

So what if, as leaders, we were to remind ourselves of this duty of care and use this as the most vital measure for whether a plan or policy or strategy can pass this test?

I reckon the world would be a very different place.

Maria’s Midweek Mindfulness

The journey I have travelled from poverty to material success to spiritual desert to soul connection has been a labour of love and learning. Sometimes I just want to put my feet up and accept where I am, yet I am continually driven to challenge myself in all the most uncomfortable places because the fruits are always so sweet.

The Wednesday Whisper

Where can you stretch a bit more to care for all living things? What other thing could you do?
